To make the
game more interesting it’s possible to use weapon as well as traps or other
tricks to defeat enemies. Good example for defeating enemy without using any
weapon is level 6. In this part of the game we come across a frog with steel
skin. To defeat it we need to find a piece of meat and then soak it with
poison. If we feed the steel frog with this poisoned meat it will feel sick
and after that frog’s magic power will be more and more weaken, so it won’t
be able to guard the entrance.
Another
example is level 24 where player meets wild beast captured in a cage. If
it’s free it can easily tear into pieces any other creatures including
guards who are standing next to gate.
Not every
mysterious tasks must be solved to end the game. The player can sometime
decide about the way of solving and order of tasks
Player on his
way comes across over 20 different creatures. He can co-operate with it or
he can also change its behaviour. Some time he has to defeat it. Player
must be prepared to face enemies who are called the rulers of levels. In the
whole game player comes across over 180 objects and creatures.
There is also
a possibility to use a few different vehicles. Player has an opportunity to
use a raft or for example to run a coach. Also there is a vehicle resembling
a tank, which can be used by remote control. It has a cannon and may be
useful for breaking a thick wall to make an entrance.
Script refers
to RPG. Level 19 is a good example for adaptation of RPG elements. In this
level player comes across magic gates, which can be opened only by creatures
from another world. To deal with this problem he has to find a spell, which
allows him to change himself into a creature from other lands. Another
example is level 10 where is a miner, who has special ability to plant bombs
and he is the only person who can cause its explosion.
The game
also contains suprising turns of action. In 16th level player
meets evil magician Cadabrus for the first time. He gains very strong magic
which can secure him for Cadabrus magic. But the power of evil magician
turns out to be too strong and after hitting a magic bullet player is being
moved to parallel world.
Convenient,
intuitive system of icons allows to operate objects easily, it allows for
player’s interaction with environment also. Authors of this project believes
that system of game control is rather easy to operate and there is no need
to check anything in instructions. Broad possibilities of interaction with
environment and opportunities of operating objects are presented with the
help of legible icons. Thanks to this solution we have avoided creation of
multilevel menu ( as it is e.g. in Pokemon).
Flexible
script language allows to shape freely the behaviour of creatures in the
game. Opportunity of interaction between creatures and background allows to
create easily sequences of animation. Sequences of animation can stay (or
not) in interaction with behaviour of the main creature directed by player.
In Mageus we
have also applied unique solutions for animation of level’s map. Thanks to
this solution player has an opportunity to change fragments of map. We find
good example in 22 level, where player comes across a huge container filled
with water. He has to empty it to get to another part of city. Of course
there is a possibility of animation every cube of graphics, as it is in
other programs.
For each
world we designed original and careful graphics. Our designers put an
effort to create locations which are interesting and not monotonous. To
have large number of colours at creatures in our game we have applied
special technique of joining sprite’s.
The game
Mageus gives more than 18 hours of great fun. Thanks to diversity of the
script game gives users a lot of emotion and sensation.
